The mines under Karthas change every time you descend. Hand-crafted rooms shuffle into a fresh map for each playthrough, so memorising a route never works. The problem of over-familiarity in platformers disappears — you explore instead of repeating.
Rescue the missing crew
Workers have been dragged into the depths. Your first job is finding them across mines, catacombs and ruined halls, one room at a time.
Fight through shifting corridors
Each area throws new creatures at you. Slash through them with sword combos and unlock abilities that open previously blocked paths, Metroidvania-style.
Upgrade as you go
Each run shuffles room order and loot
Does each run actually feel different? The room order changes, enemy placement shifts and loot tables reshuffle. You see familiar room designs after a few hours, but the sequence and the gear you find rarely repeat. That keeps the first ten hours tight, though completionists may spot the seams after that.
How long is a single playthrough? A straight run through the six areas takes roughly six to eight hours. Going back for missed miners and hidden ability shrines pushes it closer to twelve.
Controller or keyboard? The game reads both. A controller suits the combat timing better — dodge rolls and spell cancels feel snappier on a gamepad. Keyboard works fine; remap the attack keys early if you plan longer sessions.
For Metroidvania fans who hate backtracking loops
Metroidvania players who dislike repeating themselves. If you bounce off games that ask you to run the same corridor five times, the procedural map keeps the backtracking fresh. You still revisit areas with new abilities, but the route changes.
People with short, irregular play windows. The game saves at each room transition. You can clear two rooms, quit, then return without losing progress — handy on a lunch break or between tasks.
Retro pixel-art fans on Intel Macs. The x86 build runs smoothly on older Intel machines that struggle with newer Unity titles. If you grabbed a Chasm Mac torrent to test performance on a 2015 MacBook Pro, the sprite work and 60-fps movement hold up without dropped frames.
Not ideal for players who want hand-placed surprises every time. The room pool is finite. After several complete runs, you start recognising individual arenas. The magic lives in the first two or three descents — enough to justify the install, but worth knowing before you commit.
Dalton gains spells, better equipment and new moves from rescued miners and hidden chambers. Your kit depends on what the map gives you that run.

Questions the team asks
The core story stays the same — creatures emerge, workers are taken — but how you reach each objective differs because the room assembly is always new.
