Players who value a thick noir atmosphere and strong narrative over action will settle right into this one. It is built for anyone who wants to steer a hard-boiled investigation through dialogue choices and careful observation, not gunplay.
Methodical clue-weaving under a timer
This suits the methodical player. Investigating a crime scene means scanning for clues and connecting them in a deduction panel. Conversations branch based on your attitude, and the timer on responses keeps the pressure on. Side quests for supporting characters fill out the world without padding the main case. The 1950s New York setting is rendered with a hand-drawn look that matches the source material, and the original story of a dead club owner and a missing boxer pulls you into a web of corruption. Voice work in English, French, German, Spanish and Russian lets you pick the delivery that fits the mood.
Quick time events, not action set pieces
It will frustrate anyone after polished action sequences. Quick time events pop up during chases or fights, but they punctuate the story rather than drive it. The pacing is slow and deliberate. If you want control precision or open-world freedom, this linear detective case will feel restrictive. The Intel-only build also means Apple Silicon owners run it through Rosetta or not at all.
Rosetta runs it, no native ARM build
Does it run on Apple Silicon Macs? Yes, through Rosetta 2. The build is Intel-only, so your M-series Mac translates it automatically on first launch. Performance holds up fine for a narrative game. No native ARM version exists.
How long is a playthrough? Most players clock 10 to 12 hours for the main story. Chasing every side quest and alternate dialogue path adds a few more. The six endings reward a second run if you want to see how different choices land.
Is voice acting available in multiple languages? English, French, German, Spanish and Russian voice tracks are included. You switch in the settings menu before starting a chapter. Interface text covers those five plus Italian and Dutch.
Unlinked clues silently block your progress
Skipping the deduction panel early on. Clues sit in your notebook until you combine them there, and the game rarely prods you to open it. If the story stalls, check whether an unlinked clue pair is blocking progress.
Rushing dialogue timers. The countdown feels urgent, but a neutral silence is sometimes the strongest reply. Letting the bar expire often reveals character reactions you would miss by snapping back too quickly.
Ignoring side characters between chapters. A few side quests lock out if you push straight into the next main objective. Walk through each location and talk to everyone before moving the case forward.
Pressing through quick time events with the trackpad. A wired mouse or external trackpad cuts the missed-input frustration that a built-in trackpad sometimes creates during chase sequences.
