The card timer expires after seven days, ending your run

• Forgetting the seven-day timer. A drawn card stays active for one week in-game. Miss the deadline and the Sultan's patience runs out — often ending that run early. Check the card timer before assigning action cards to other tasks.
• Spreading resources too thin. Early runs punish players who chase every NPC quest at once. Pick one ally to develop and one court faction to strengthen in the first few turns.
• Misreading card types. Flesh, Luxury, Conquest, and Blood cards each demand different resources. A Conquest card completed with Luxury resources wastes what you have and angers the court. Match the card type to the resource pool before committing.
• Windowed mode scaling. On Mac displays, the default resolution sometimes clips the bottom UI bar. Switch to fullscreen in the settings menu, then scale back to windowed if preferred.

First days with Sultans Game

Start a throwaway run. The random Sultan card order means no two runs play the same, and the first attempt teaches the rhythm without attachment. Let it go badly.

Note the ally screen. Each NPC ally brings a specific bonus — some reduce resource costs, others unlock hidden card outcomes. After one failed run, you will know which allies to pursue early.

Assign no more than two action cards per turn for the first three days. This leaves a buffer if the next drawn Sultan card demands immediate resources you have not stockpiled yet.

Switch the language to Traditional Chinese or Japanese once, even briefly. The interface text tightens up in those languages, and some narrative flavour differs. An easy way to check localisation quality before committing to a full playthrough.

Collect wealth, information, and equipment while completing NPC quests. The One Thousand and One Nights inspiration shows in the tone, not just the setting.
