The early access build landed on 2025-11-19, marking version 0.17.8.0 Rev 1. It runs natively on Apple Silicon, so Mac players get straight in without translation overhead.
Good for / Not for
- Good for someone who enjoyed the first Moonlighter's loop but wanted more systems layered on top. The relic collection adds a reason to replay runs, and sinking money into village businesses gives cash a purpose beyond gear.
- Not for a player expecting a finished, balanced experience today. Early access means rough edges in progression and pacing. If you want a tight, polished RPG from the first hour, wait for the full release.
Three loops, one settlement
Will explores The Endless Vault, an ancient artifact that shifts each run. Relics pulled from the depths feed back into the village economy. You set prices, stock shelves, and watch NPCs react. Profit from the shop then funds new businesses in the settlement. The three systems — combat, retail, and town building — all pull from the same pool of time and coin, so decisions carry weight across the whole session.
Baseline Mac build wrapped in Wineskin
- Initial early access build — no patch notes yet, so the baseline is what you play
- All three systems (dungeon, shop, village) are in place from the start
- Wineskin wrapper means the Mac build matches the Windows version feature for feature
What stands out right now is that nothing feels walled off. You're not locked into two hours of dungeon grinding before the shop opens, or vice versa. The relic economy is live, village investments unlock from session one, and the Endless Vault shifts layouts without any tutorial gates. For an early access launch, that's a decision that respects the player's time.
From vector layers to dungeon loot by 9pm
A freelance illustrator in Bristol wraps up client work around 21:00. They want something that switches their brain from vectors and layers to risk and reward without demanding a wiki open on the second screen.
They boot Moonlighter 2, do a short relic run through three vault chambers, and come back to Tresna with a bag of curiosities. Pricing takes five minutes — they undercut on common relics to move stock fast and mark up the rare one because an NPC already eyed it yesterday. The till fills. Before logging off, they drop the night's profit into the blacksmith's next tier. Tomorrow's run will hit harder.
- Apple Silicon Mac
- Wine wrapper (included)
