You tap out a word on the board, Elsa freezes a tile for double points, and your friend curses from three postcodes away. That is a typical round in Disney SpellStruck.
Bite-sized levels across four maps
- Families who want a word game everyone can join — it runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro.
- Quick sessions. Over 60 levels sit across four maps, so progress is bite-sized.
- Competitive types. Online versus play is built in, and the co-creator of Words with Friends helped shape it.
Superpowers can distract from the crossword
- Superpowers shake up the board. If you prefer plain crosswords, the special abilities might feel distracting.
- Multiplayer needs a connection. Adventure mode works solo, but the head-to-head is online only.
Workflow: clear a daily challenge with a champion
- Open the app and tap the Daily Challenge tile on the home screen.
- Check the bonus word hint before you place a single letter — the hint often points to a diagonal you would miss.
- Pick a champion whose superpower matches the board. Tight letter set? Use a tile-swap ability. Long words scored high last round? Bring a point multiplier.
- Place the longest word you can in your first move. Daily boards reward early high-scorers with extra multiplier tiles.
- Save the champion ability until the board is at least half-full. Triggering it late uncovers word openings your opponent already blocked.
- Submit your score, check the leaderboard, and note which champion the top three players chose — it tells you what works on that board.
A parent with ten minutes and an Apple TV
Picture a rainy Saturday in Manchester. Two kids, one remote, and a parent who wants something that does not feel like homework. They launch Disney SpellStruck on the Apple TV, pick a Pixar champion each, and open Adventure mode. The youngest spells "ship" with Stitch's help; the eldest lands "planet" and triggers a score bump. The parent queues up a versus round against a cousin in Glasgow, and for ten minutes the living room is a team huddle over a crossword board. Nobody asks for a tablet. The game runs on the big screen, the controls work with the Siri Remote, and the session ends when the daily challenge result pings the leaderboard. A Disney SpellStruck Mac torrent search might cross your mind if you wanted to keep a copy offline, and with the right setup it could complement the streaming experience nicely.
- macOS 11.0 or later
- Apple Silicon and Intel Macs
