Fabled Lands — Mac download
Ticked

Version 3.0.2 is live and the Castle of Lost Souls DLC is now part of the map.
Open world — hundreds of quests and locations across a war-torn kingdom, no fixed path.
Ironman mode — one save, one life. Every choice sticks.
Temples & blessings — join a temple and gain deity blessings that shape your run.
Solo RPG — a choose-your-own-adventure built from the Fabled Lands gamebooks by Dave Morris and Jamie Thomson.
Music — full soundtrack included.
On a Mac, expect a smooth turn-based experience. Tested on a Mac mini 2024 M4 running macOS Tahoe, the game runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon. Controls are point-and-click — no gamepad needed. Load times are short, and the hand-drawn map scrolls without stutter. Ironman mode makes every session tense; the auto-save locks in mistakes immediately.
Trade routes and ship upgrades vs. a fixed 40-day clock
Vs. Roadwarden
Both are text-heavy RPGs with open maps. Roadwarden leans harder into illustrated-text melancholy and a fixed 40-day clock. Fabled Lands gives more mechanical freedom — trade routes, ship upgrades, deity choice — and no time pressure. If you want mood and a tight story arc, Roadwarden. If you want systems to tinker with, Fabled Lands.
Vs. The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante
Sir Brante is a linear, chapter-based narrative with branching stats. Fabled Lands is a sandbox. You can ignore the main conflict entirely and just trade commodities between ports for a whole session. Sir Brante never lets you drift that far from its script.
Vs. Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind
Both involve deity worship and resource management. Six Ages operates at clan scale; Fabled Lands is purely a solo character journey. Building a ship and hiring crew in Fabled Lands feels closer to a personal progression loop than Six Ages' mythic strategy.
Starting gold beats sword skill when one death ends the run
- Boot the game on a MacBook. The hand-drawn map fills the screen. You pick merchant — starting gold matters more than sword skill when one death ends the run.
- First stop: the market. You buy spices, check the port ledger for selling prices two cities over, and note a temple quest pinned nearby.
- En route, a pirate sloop intercepts your ship. Tactical combat opens. Crew morale is low. You burn a blessing from the sea god, tilt the odds, and scrape through with one hull point remaining.
- You dock, sell the spices at a profit, and tithe at the temple. The Ironman save ticks. No undo. The next choice — join the king's fleet or run guns for the dictator — waits at dawn.
The session ends with a new ship upgrade queued and the uneasy knowledge that one bad fight in the next hex wipes everything. Grab a Fabled Lands Mac torrent to get the files, and the tension Ironman creates is the real download.

Questions the team asks

It's a permadeath mode where every decision is irreversible and your character dies once and for all, with no reloading.
