It’s built for people who love rifling through drawers, spotting false bottoms, and arguing with friends over what a set of symbols means. You’re locked in a themed room. Everything you need to get out is hidden in plain sight.

Scan every object’s underside for hidden codes

You walk around a first-person 3D space picking up objects, turning them over, and looking for clues. A locked box might need a four-digit code. That code is somewhere: scrawled on a painting, hinted at by coloured books on a shelf, or buried in a torn note you reassemble. You drag items to interact with locks, switches, and hidden compartments. Nothing is a blurry pixel hunt. Objects snap clearly into view when you examine them. Solo play is quiet and methodical. Co-op splits the room across up to four players, so someone reads the map while someone else tries every drawer.

Tools and replay value

The room editor ships with the game. It’s the same tool Pine Studio used, so you can place furniture, set logic chains, and publish your own escape room. The workshop holds over 2,000 community-made rooms, from quick 10-minute puzzles to multi-hour sets. You can play in English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, or Simplified Chinese.

A clean room workflow: the Egyptian tomb

  1. Open every drawer, urn, and sarcophagus lid. Don’t start solving yet — just map where objects live.
  2. Pick one item. Examine it in close view. Rotate it. Note any numbers, colours, or symbols on its sides.
  3. Check walls and floors for matching symbols. A scarab engraving often pairs with a scarab-shaped key.
  4. Solve the smallest lock first. That usually gives you a new item, which opens the next thing.
  5. Share findings aloud in co-op. Say “I have a green 7” even if it seems irrelevant.
  6. Resist brute-forcing. The logic chain is deliberate; guessing a code skips half the satisfaction.

Spin items fully instead of piling unused keys

  • Ignoring the examine rotation. Lots of clues are on the bottom or back of an object. Spin everything fully before setting it aside.
  • Piling up unused items. If a key doesn’t fit anything obvious, it’s for a lock in another room. Re-trace with fresh eyes instead of hoarding.
  • Overcomplicating the puzzle. The answer is rarely as clever as your third theory. Try the simple pattern first — colour order, numeric sequence, shape match.
  • Staying silent in co-op. Solo habits don’t transfer. Call out every clue the moment you find it, or the team wastes time double-checking drawers you’ve already emptied.

Questions the team asks

Yes. All 20+ official rooms work in single-player, and you can tackle community rooms solo too.

The workshop has over 2,000 player-made rooms with more added regularly.

It runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 10.13 or later, 4 GB RAM, 18 GB storage, and a Metal-capable GPU.
