Version 15.0.30 arrived on 2026-06-03 with many fixes and enhancements across the application. The update reworks folder track routing, improves imported track settings, and adjusts Quick Link behaviour. The Analyzer track, Comp Tool with Group Editing, and Score Editor all received attention. It is a maintenance release that also adds workflow improvements.
Game audio and ADR with group edit workflows
- Dialogue editing and ADR for film and television
- Game audio design with complex routing needs
- Immersive and spatial audio mixing projects
- Post-production teams that rely on group editing and track archives
Deep post workstation, not casual music making
- It is a deep workstation; casual music production is not its focus
- Requires macOS 11 or later
- The feature set is tailored to post, not beat-making or live performance
200-track Ambisonics mix stays smooth on Apple Silicon
On an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14, the 15.0.30 build loads large post-production sessions without beachballing. Playback of a 200-track feature mix with Ambisonics beds and object-based audio stays smooth at a 512-sample buffer. Memory pressure sits around 6 GB for a medium session; heavier projects push toward 10 GB, which is expected for the track counts.
The Multiband Envelope Shaper bypass optimisation in this update is noticeable. Toggling the plug-in on and off during an action-scene pass no longer causes a brief audio dropout. That small fix alone cuts friction during tight dub-stage sessions.
Stability holds up over long days. Leaving a session open overnight with video playback, EuCon control surface sync, and four channels of ADR recording running did not trigger a crash. The fix for Direct Offline Processing with VST Bass Amp and VST Amp Rack means offline renders match real-time previews now—no more re-rendering after spotting a discrepancy.
A dialogue editing pass, start to finish
- Import a production sound AAF into a template with pre-configured folder tracks. The updated folder track routing with Group Channel functionality means you can drop a dialogue stem folder onto an existing group bus and it inherits routing without manual reassignment.
- Load the video file and lock the global track. The Score Editor fix in 15.0.30 stops timeline markers from shifting when the global track is locked, so spotting notes stay anchored to picture.
- Set up an Analyzer track on the dialogue bus to check for low-end rumble. The 15.0.30 Analyzer track changes let you leave it open on a second display without the redraw lag that used to creep in after an hour.
- Comp the best takes using the Comp Tool with Group Editing on. Multi-mic dialogue edits stay phase-coherent across grouped tracks. The Group Editing fix resolves a previous bug where a comp swipe on track one didn't always carry to tracks two and three.
- Use Quick Link to route a MIDI controller to clip gain for fast levelling. The adjusted MIDI port behaviour means the link survives a project save and reopen—a quality-of-life fix that reduces setup repetition.
- Apply noise reduction via Direct Offline Processing. The interface for VST plug-ins renders correctly now, so gain staging decisions don't get second-guessed by a garbled UI.
- Export a track archive for the re-recording mixer. The updated handling of imported track settings means the archive opens on another system with plug-in chains, routing, and pan automation intact.
AAF and XML import from Media Composer or Resolve
Nuendo sits at the centre of a post stack. Video editors send AAF or XML from Media Composer or Resolve; Nuendo reads them and places clips on tracks with handles preserved. The update's improvements to imported track settings reduce the cleanup time when track names or routing differ between editorial and mix templates.
With macOS features, it plays well. You can assign system-wide keyboard shortcuts through the Shortcuts app to trigger Nuendo macros. Quick Link adjustments in 15.0.30 mean an external MIDI device doesn't lose its assignment after the Mac wakes from sleep—a subtle but helpful fix for stages where the machine runs all day.
On the export side, ADR takes can be bounced directly into Soundminer or BaseHead libraries using the track archive format, with all metadata embedded. The 15.0.30 track archive handling means these exports arrive on a sound supervisor's machine with less manual re-patching.
Working alongside Steinberg's own ecosystem, a dialogue editor can rough in a surround pan in Nuendo, open the project in a Steinberg Nuendo torrent build on a second Mac for spotting sessions, and not lose any routing. The recent architecture support for both ARM and x64 keeps the session portable between Intel and Apple Silicon machines.
