Send a Lamball into a fistfight and you'll grasp the basics.

Pal Sphere — the capture tool. Weaken a wild Pal, then throw a sphere to collect it.

Paldeck — your roster of captured Pals. Check a Pal's work suitability and partner skill here.

Palbox — base storage and management hub. Pals left here are idle; assign them to tasks at your base.

Breeding Farm — place two Pals in the pen. The hatched egg inherits traits from both parents.

Assign — throw a Pal at a work station. A Foxparks lights furnaces; a Lifmunk chops timber.

Party — the five Pals you carry. Deploy one in combat and cycle through them mid-battle.

Crusher — dismantles unwanted Pals into materials. Harsh, but practical.

Feed Bag — a slot on your character. Keep it stocked; hunger drains health outside the base perimeter.

Offline play works, but your M1 needs 8GB minimum

Does it run offline? Single-player worlds are fully local. No internet required once you have the files. Multiplayer needs a connection, obviously.

Will my older Mac handle it? The build targets Apple Silicon. An M1 with 8GB RAM runs it; an M4 breezes through. Intel Macs are not supported in this version.

Is multiplayer cross-platform? No. Mac players see other Mac players only. PC and console lobbies sit behind separate network pools.

Can I move my saves from Windows? Yes. The save format is identical. Copy the Saved folder into the same relative path inside the Mac app's container, and the world loads.

What happens to Pals when I log off a server? On a dedicated server, your character disappears but base Pals keep working if the server stays up. In co-op with a host, the world freezes when the host leaves.

Do I need a controller? No. Keyboard and mouse work. That said, mounting a flying Pal with WASD takes practice. Many players switch to a gamepad for traversal.

Morning furnace check: your fire Pal starved overnight

Say you run a small server with two friends. You take the builder role — someone has to. Morning is inspection: the Jormuntide Ignis assigned to the furnace ran out of food overnight because the feed box sat one tile outside its work range. You move the box, restock berries, and the production line cranks back to life.

Mid-afternoon you discover a Suzaku with the Swift trait circling the desert cliffs. You weaken it with a crossbow, throw a Hyper Sphere, and the capture sticks. Back at base, you pair it with a Beakon in the Breeding Farm. The egg incubates while your friend expands the mining outpost — a cluster of Anubis Pals now auto-hauling ore into chests. By evening the egg hatches. The offspring inherited Runner from the Beakon and Swift from the Suzaku. That Pal now cuts flight time between bases in half. The second friend, the one who always forgets to wear heat-resistant armour, dies in the volcano biome. Again. You craft another set and leave it in the Palbox for him.

A Pal without Handiwork will never craft for you

Ignoring work suitability icons. Throwing a random Pal at a crafting bench and wondering why nothing happens. Check the Paldeck. A Pal without Handiwork won't craft, no matter how high its level.

Building too close to ore nodes. Structures block resource respawn. Place foundations six foundation-lengths away from any node you want to keep farming.

Feeding Pals raw berries forever. Berries fill the hunger bar slowly. Mid-game Pals with high SAN depletion need cooked food or salads. A stressed Pal slacks off or develops negative traits you then have to medicate away.

Forgetting to set a Pal's combat stance. The default is "attack on sight." If you are trying to catch something fragile, switch the active Pal to "don't attack" in the command wheel. One stray hit from your own Pal kills a low-health target.

Storing everything in one box. A single wooden chest fills up fast. Label storage: ore here, wood there, Pal drops in a third. The search bar in the Palbox interface pulls from nearby chests, so organisation speeds up crafting queues.

Dismantling early Pals with rare passives. That low-level Cattiva with Artisan is not trash. Breed it later to transfer the trait. Once crushed, the trait is gone for good.

Leaving the base perimeter undefended. Raids scale with your base level. A level-15 base with three wooden walls and no defensive Pals gets flattened by a single incursion. Place a few combat-capable Pals in the base roster and build a stone gate early.

Questions the team asks
