Routine — Mac download
Ticked

Routine appeals to survival-horror players who prefer tension over jump scares and can handle losing progress. The lunar base gives you no map, no checkpoints, and very little interface. You find your way by remembering corridors and reading the environment.
Mac requirements and performance
Routine runs on Apple Silicon Macs. Testing on a 2024 Mac mini with M4 and macOS Tahoe shows smooth first-person movement with full body control. The minimal interface keeps screen clutter down, which helps immersion on any display size. Expect stable frame rates if your machine meets the Apple Silicon requirement.
Controls and gameplay feel
The game uses full body control — you look down and see your character's torso and legs. This grounds movement and makes the abandoned station feel physical. With no checkpoints, every decision matters. You navigate by memory, not waypoints. The Russian, English, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, French and Japanese localisations cover the interface text cleanly.
Things you can do but the game never tells you
Routine hides most interactions behind observation. No tutorial pop-up explains the small conveniences built into the Cosmonaut Assistance Tool.
- Hold down the tool's primary button near a terminal to auto-align. It saves fumbling with precise aiming in the dark.
- Audio cues shift in tone when the enemy is above or below your deck. Learn the difference and you can plan a route instead of freezing.
- The tool's screen dims when you are being hunted. Glance at your wrist before turning a blind corner.
- Leaning works against most consoles, not just waist-high cover. Press into a wall near a terminal to read it from an angle, keeping sightlines open behind you.
- Full body control means your footsteps change on grated floors versus sealed panels. The enemy hears the same difference you do.
ARM-only—no Intel Mac support
Does it run on Intel Macs? No. The build is ARM-only. Any Apple Silicon machine should handle it.
How long does a session last? That depends on how cautiously you move. Without checkpoints, a careful run can stretch past an hour. One mistake can reset it to zero.
Is the enemy always present? Not always visible, but the sound design suggests it roams the base from the moment you arrive. You hear it before you see it.
Do I need a controller? Keyboard and mouse work fine. The minimal interface suits both. Full body control translates well to either input.

Questions the team asks
No. The game has no checkpoints, so death means restarting from the beginning of your run.
