Terraforming Mars — Mac download
Ticked

The game runs on any Mac with macOS 11.3 or later, on both Intel and Apple Silicon machines. Rosetta needs to be active for the DLC to work properly.
Base game, five factions, and three multiplayer modes packed in
- The full base game, an official adaptation of the board game about making Mars habitable.
- Up to five factions on the map at once.
- Online multiplayer, local network play, and hotseat mode on a single computer.
- A transport system for seeds, plants, and animals to your colony.
- A set of achievements to unlock.
- Interface languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Swedish.
- A musical soundtrack. No voice-over, just instrumental accompaniment.
Compatibility note
Launch the game with Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs. If you skip this step, the DLC content won't appear. The base game itself runs natively, but the expansions rely on Rosetta's translation layer to function correctly.
Launch with Rosetta, pick Tharsis or Helion, face three hard AI
- Launch with Rosetta active. The menu screen is quick — no splash delays.
- Choose a corporation. Tharsis Republic if I want to lean on city-building. Helion for heat-heavy play.
- Set AI opponents. Three, on hard difficulty. That keeps the pressure on without bogging turn times.
- First generation opens. I check my starting hand of project cards. Tag synergy matters more than flashy cost. I buy four cards.
- Turn one: I place a city tile on a space with two adjacent plant bonuses, then drop a greenery next to it a generation later.
- Mid-game, the oxygen track is lagging. I switch priority to plant production and drop an aquifer for the temperature bump.
- By generation 12, the map is tight. Two AIs are racing me on milestones. I claim Mayor and Gardener before they can react.
- Final scoring flashes up. The AI had a strong engine, but my board presence carried the spread.
Rules match the board game but undo steps feel faster on screen
Does this match the physical board game rules exactly? The digital edition follows the base game rules closely. A few timing prompts and undo steps are streamlined for the screen, but corporation abilities, project cards, milestones, and awards work as you would expect from the tabletop version. If you are searching for a Terraforming Mars Mac torrent to test compatibility first, the full installer here matches the official build.
How does multiplayer hold up on a local network? Stable. Set one machine as host, others join via IP. Turn timers are adjustable, and the game waits cleanly on each player's action. Voice chat is not built in, so keep a call open in the background.
Can I play without an internet connection? Yes. Solo matches and hotseat mode need no connection at all. Online multiplayer and achievements require a one-time check, but the DRM-free build does not phone home during single-player sessions.
- macOS 11.3 or later
- Intel or Apple Silicon Mac
- Rosetta required for DLC on Apple Silicon
Questions the team asks
Yes. The game includes a hotseat mode so up to five players can take turns on one machine.
