Prototype Audio Eraform Fraction — Mac download
Ticked

Turn the Feedback control past twelve o’clock and the signal folds back on itself, thickening a simple triangle wave into a dense, humming pad. Fraction’s engine pulls from over 16,000 samples — real instrument recordings and analog hardware captures — so the raw material already carries weight before you touch a knob.
The visual control panel keeps things direct. Drag the character slider left for grittier, lo-fi textures; push it right and the top end opens up without getting brittle. Rhythmic repeats snap to the host tempo, and the granular section can stretch a single note into a shifting, grainy cloud that sits behind a dry bassline.
For bass parts, the low end stays focused even with the feedback echo engaged — the repeats decay cleanly rather than muddying the fundamental. Melodic lines benefit from how the sample layers detune slightly against each other, creating a natural chorus effect that doesn’t need a separate modulation block.
Atmospheric layers come together fast. Pick a preset, nudge the mix toward the wet signal, and the plugin builds a bed of texture that leaves room for other elements in the arrangement.
Producer scenario: scoring a short film cue
A composer opens a Logic Pro X session for a 90-second tension cue. The brief calls for evolving pads that shift from clean to degraded over time — nothing static. Opening Fraction on an instrument track, they pull up a saw-based multisample patch and automate the character slider to drift toward grittier territory across three bars. The granular section adds random grain density, turning the sustained chord into something that crackles and breathes.
They layer a second instance for a bass pulse. Feedback echo set to dotted eighth notes gives the low end a sense of motion without cluttering the midrange where the strings sit. The whole atmospheric bed takes under five minutes to dial in, leaving the rest of the session for orchestral layering and foley placement.
Automation lanes now capture grain density rides cleanly
- Plugin state recall tightened up — reopening a project no longer resets the character slider to default.
- Granular grain density now responds to host automation lanes, so parameter rides record cleanly in Logic and Ableton Live.
- Feedback echo tail length shortened at extreme settings, keeping rhythmic repeats tighter against tempo changes.
- Preset loading speed improved noticeably when flipping through multisample banks on Apple Silicon hosts.
- AU validation passes on first scan in Logic Pro X without requiring a manual restart.
- macOS 10.14 Mojave or later
- Intel or Apple Silicon Mac
- 64-bit AU or VST3 compatible host application
- Internet connection required for download and authorisation
